Investigations are on-going in the fatal shooting of a young man which occurred earlier this afternoon.
Details are sketchy however, police have confirmed the death of 23 year old, Shakeem Norford. The fatal shooting incident occurred in Shadwell.
The latest homicide comes on the heels of increased gun violence. Two days prior, a young man was shot in New Road. Last night, there were reports of shots fired in Shadwell; the police informed this medium, that it turned out to be fireworks.
An article which is in circulation suggests Basseterre has the 8th highest homicide rate per capita. Penned by Rachel Cooper through TripSavvy, the article said,
Its capital city, Basseterre, has the highest murder rate of any capital city in the world, and the overall homicide rate is the 8th highest across the globe. It goes without saying that traveling to this country is at your own risk.
There has been no arrest at this early stage. Enquiries are ongoing and a murder investigation has been launched.
