BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS(February 6TH 2017) – St. Kitts and Nevis has recorded its worst decline in goods exported to the United States in the first 11 months of 2016 compared to the same period for the last in six years.
According to the foreign trade statistics issued by the US Census Bureau, goods and services exported to the United States between January and November 2016, were valued at US$45.7 million (EC$123.3 million) compared to US$53 million or (EC$143.1 million) in 2015 and US$51.9 million or EC$140.1 million in 2014) for the same 11 month period.
Goods and services exported to the United States for the 11 month period in 2013 were valued at US$49.1 million (EC$137.5 million); US$52.3 million (EC$141.2 million) in 2012; US$49.9 million (EC$134.7 million) in 2011; US$46.2 million (EC$124.2 million) in 2010 and US$45 million (EC$121.5 million) in 2009.
For the same 11-month period Antigua and Barbuda exported US$14.8 million (EC$37.8 million); Barbados US$46.7 million (EC$126 million); Dominica US$2.5 million (EC$6.7 million); Anguilla US$3.9 million (EC$10.5 million); British Virgin Islands US$10 million (EC$27 million); Grenada US$11.9 million (EC$31.5 million); St. Maarten US$77.5 million (EC$209.7 million); St. Vincent US$2.1 million (EC$5.6 million) and St. Lucia US$13.1 million (EC$30.3 million)
St. Kitts and Nevis companies exporting to the United States and their products are Lutron Liamuiga (dimmer switches and fan speed controls); Harowe Servo (St. Kitts) Ltd (small motors, PC Board Assemblies, Rotor Assemblies and resolvers); Kajola-Kristada (connectors, filters, trap and surface mounts; for the Cable TV and Communications Industry); CSR/DDL (CSR rum/brandy and Brinley flavoured rum products); Jaro Electronics (industrial motors and transformers) and Caribelle Batik, whose products are mostly purchased by cruise passengers and stayover visitors.
