Sandy Point, St. Kitts, October 27th 2017 – Former Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, has given an assurance of his continued support and unswerving loyalty to the Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS).
Dr. Douglas was recognized and presented with an award at the school’s annual speech day on Thursday.
He told the media after the ceremony that he accepted the award, which was presented to him by the Principal, Mr. Boris Connor, “with appreciation, humility and gratitude.”
Dr. Douglas, the Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 6, expressed thanks to the Ministry of Education, officials in the Department of Education, principal Boris Connor and Staff, the Parent-Teachers Association and students for supporting the idea of the CEMSS honouring him in this public way.

Dr. Douglas, who was given a thunderous applause when his name was called and mounted the stage, thanked the people of the communities of the St. Paul’s Cappisterre region and those of Sandy Point and the neighbouring communities, whose love and support over the years sustained him as a Family Physician/General Practitioner, Member of Parliament and Prime Minister.
“My generous giving to CEMSS was only one way of giving back to this institution that has moulded the lives of these children from these communities whose parents and guardians have contributed so much to my success,” he said.
“I gave the assurance that my support and unswerving loyalty to the CEMSS in the past, will continue into the future as I am being given the opportunity to serve in any capacity,” Dr. Douglas said.
Dr. Douglas also presented an Award to Arljanique Ward of St. Paul’s/Constituency #6 for receiving the Best CXC-CSEC results from the Constituency that he has been serving as the parliamentary representative for 28 years.
