The school’s boys and girls football teams were adopted by the club during a brief ceremony on Wednesday (October 05). It was attended by a number of key officials, including Beach Allen primary’s Principal, Virgil Jeffers; President of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Keisha Browne; President of the Conaree FC, Timothy Morton; and Director in the Department of Sports, Anthony Wiltshire.

The FC president said that the team and its players will play an intricate role in the development of football in the schools. This includes technical support on and off of the field. A mentorship programme will be introduced to help guide the students’ positive character development. He added that the social development aspect was important given the negative influences that usually confront young people in any society.
“This we believe will be a vehicle to steer these aspiring footballers to more positive alternatives that will have a lasting impression on the young people and hopefully have a trickledown effect to their peers,” Mr. Morton stated.

Director Wiltshire congratulated the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) premier league team for its decision to adopt the school and encouraged other clubs to consider such actions as it can have a beneficial social impact.
Technical Director of the SKNFA, Lenny Lake, echoed similar sentiments and said “the right purpose and pathway leads to productivity”. He added that this project will have an on and off the field component and vowed that the SKNFA will continue to be hands on in ensuring continued youth development in general and that this partnership between a football club and a school is fruitful for both parties.
