SKN PULSE – Some local Banks in St. Kitts and Nevis have upgraded their card services to include chip technology to provide enhanced security.
Chip technology reflects the evolution of electronic payment systems. Adaption of this kind of technology provides a safe guard for clients as it makes the card even harder to copy.
In the event that a card is lost or stolen, card holders in SKN can be assured that they would be protected from fraudulent transactions.
Everything about the make-up of the debit card remains the same with the inclusion of the chip.
However, if your making a payment at a chip card reader the insertion of the card is different from the norm. The card is inserted into the card reader as shown above.
In the event businesses aren’t up to date with the new chip readers, your card will still work via the swiping method as the magnetic strip is still in existence with the new chip cards.
