Historic Victory for Leeward Islands Women Senior Team

The Leeward Islands won their 1st ever game in the West Indies Women’s 50 Over Championship on Monday 3rd March 2025, beating Jamaica women by 1 wicket in their fourth round regional women’s super 50 encounter at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Leewards successfully chased the highest target in the CG United Women’s Super50 so far

Led by Captain Amanda Edwards, Leewards successfully chased their target of 253 with 3 balls to spare. Edwards top scored with 88 not out (101 balls). She struck seven (4s) and one (6). Edwards shared in a fifth wicket partnership with Jahzara Claxton (34), worth 58 runs.

Kimberley Anthony scored a fiery 37 from 32 balls, hitting three (4s) and two (6s). She shared in an eighty run seven wicket partnership with Edwards.

Rozel Liburd scored the winning runs for the Leewards off the last over.

Batting first, defending champions, Jamaica scored 253 for 9 in their 50 overs.

Captain Rashada Williams top scored with 86. Williams struck eight fours and featured in a 77-run second wicket partnership with Jodian Morgan, who scored 35.

Abigail Bryce slammed 72 and shared in an 82 run fifth wicket stand with Williams.

Kimberley Antony was the pick of the bowlers for Leewards with 5 wickets for 34 runs from six overs. Jahzara Claxton and Amanda Edwards bagged two wickets each.
