The Leeward Islands beat Jamaica by eight-wickets yesterday, (Saturday) in Round One of Cricket West Indies Regional Under-17 Championships being held in Trinidad and Tobago.
With Jamaica winnining the toss, they elected to bat first at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Jamaica were bowled out for 146 off 42.3 overs. Steven Wedderburn top-scored with an unbeaten 58.
Jaden Carmichael was the top bowler for the Leewards. He bagged six for 17 from 10 overs while Akadianto Willett, who took three for 28.
The Leewards reached their target in 38.2 overs. Anderson Amurdan scored the first half century for his team. He made 55. In reply, Leewards replied with 150 for two.
Leewards won by eight wickets.
