Parliamentary representative for constituency #5, Mrs. Cleone Staptelon-Simmonds of the Nevis Reformation Party revealed earlier today on 2020 Vision Radio that she hasn’t been paid since being elected on March, 5 2020.

Stapleton-Simmonds made the revelation on a special edition of Tell Me hosted by former politician Carlisle Powell and co-host Stevenson Manners.

Coined as The Level of Vindictiveness, Stapleton-Simmonds said:

To date, despite the overwhelming results of the by-election, I am still waiting on the Honourable Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, to make the necessary arrangement for my office, I am still waiting on my salary.

Co-host Manners interjected Simmonds and said:

I don’t believe you.

Stapleton-Simmonds responded:

You better believe me.

While Powell asked, haven’t been paid a salary or allowance?

I have not been paid a salary or a constituency allowance. I am waiting. I am still waiting on it.

Hon. Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds

That’s an insult.

Carlisle Powell

I have said to myself, I am going to give them until the end of May and then we are going to see how we move forward in June. We may very well end up in the court with this matter because it is unacceptable.

She opined that:

Here they are, the ministers, Hon. Eric Evelyn and Hon. Alexis Jeffers even before hand they can tell you what they intend do with their salaries. But, here you have Hon. Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds, who won! Won in the by-election, who have served, I started working immediately, all over Facebook.  What about my salary. What about my Pay, What about my constituency allowance? I am being denied of that. Blatant victimization.

Stapleton-Simmonds further stated:

The reason behind that, so that I am not able to help the people in St. Thomas’ in this election but They can’t stop us. When I am ready, I will deal with them accordingly. I know how to deal with them.

Since her victory at the poll back in March, she has presented care packages to mothers in her constituency as well as delivered care packages to the most vulnerable,(covid-19 relief assistance). Added to that, she also made two donations, one to the flamboyant home and the other to the Alexandra Hospital in observance of Nurses Week.
