Through increased participation and a desire to excel, the Basseterre High School Stormers copped 46 medals at the recently concluded Trupial Classics. The Invitation Only Trupial Classic, is an annual meet which was held at the National Stadium in Curaçao.
The three-day meet featured celebrated athletes from around the region.
The St. Kitts team was able to capture 46 medals: 22 gold medals, 12 silver and 11 bronze.
Led by Coach Mattaniah Wallace, the team comprised of 33 athletes. They participated in relays, athletics classics and road race competition. The team had the full support of Hon. Shawn Richards who also participated the 10k road race.
In a social media post he said:
It was quite a phenomenal performance by the team and my pleasure to see the athletes compete. I should also add that I participated in the 10k road run.
