Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 4, 2026 — Minister responsible for Sports, the Honourable Samal Duggins, has congratulated national cricketer Jeremiah Louis on an outstanding performance for the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Warner Park, where the fast bowler produced a remarkable five-wicket haul in the Patriots’ final home match of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League season.
Louis’ performance was a major moment in his T20 career and placed his name among the standout bowling performances in CPL history, further highlighting the quality and potential of cricketers from St. Kitts and Nevis.
Minister Duggins described the performance as a proud moment for the Federation and praised Louis for the discipline, preparation and hard work behind the achievement.
“Jeremiah deserves tremendous credit for what he produced at Warner Park. To perform at that level, at home, in front of your own people, and to put your name among the best bowling performances in CPL history is something special,” Minister Duggins said.
He added, “This is Jeremiah’s achievement. It is the product of his talent, commitment, discipline and continued development, and I want to congratulate him wholeheartedly on what was an exceptional performance.”
A few months ahead of CPL 2026, Louis was among the national cricketers afforded the opportunity to travel to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, for an intensive high-performance training programme through a partnership between the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
The programme was conducted at the High Performance Centre, Omega International School, Chennai, and focused on technical skills, strength and conditioning, sports science, game awareness, match preparation and overall player development ahead of the CPL season.
The St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots Pre-CPL 2026 Camp was led by Adhishwar T. A., Director of Cricket, and overseen by Lakshminarayan M. (Lakky), Head of High Performance. The coaching team included Bharat Arun, former India Bowling Coach, IPL 2024 title-winning coach with Kolkata Knight Riders and current Bowling Coach of Lucknow Super Giants, along with Jayakumar and Sanjoo Singh, both BCCI Level 3 coaches.
The players were also supported by a specialist high-performance backroom team, including strength and conditioning coaches and physiotherapists.
The programme placed particular emphasis on preparing Mikyle Louis and Jeremiah Louis for the roles envisioned for them within the Patriots’ CPL 2026 plans, with targeted work on technical execution, physical conditioning, game awareness and match readiness.
Speaking at the time about the initiative, St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots owner Mahesh Ramani said the development of local talent remained a strategic priority for the franchise.
“Investing in local talent is not an initiative for us; it is a strategic priority. The partnership between the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is built around a shared objective: creating a clear, high-performance pathway for the country’s most promising cricketers,” Ramani said.
He continued, “For Mikyle and Jeremiah, this is an opportunity to train in a professional high-performance environment, work alongside experienced coaches, access world-class facilities and sports science support, and experience the standards and discipline expected at the professional level.
We are grateful for the Government’s partnership and its commitment to investing in the next generation of cricketers.”
The value of the opportunity was also recognised by the players themselves. Speaking while in Chennai, Louis praised the initiative and the high-performance environment provided.
“It is a very good initiative by Mahesh, St. Kitts Nevis Patriots Ltd. and the Saint Kitts-Nevis Government for bringing us all the way over here to India. The backroom staff, including physios, the trainers, groundsmen, coaches, everybody has been great,” Louis said. “This is a very good initiative by these two entities, and I will encourage everybody to look out for us.”
Just months later, Louis would deliver a performance at Warner Park that placed his name among the best bowling performances in CPL history.
Fellow national cricketer Mikyle Louis, who also participated in the programme, expressed similar appreciation for the investment being made in young players.
“It is quite rare we find people willing to invest into the younger generation, and I’m speaking on behalf of myself and other players. So we really appreciate it and we’re really grateful for the opportunity to travel all the way to India to come and play cricket and develop our skills,” Mikyle said. “It’s been going great, the coaches are amazing, facilities is 10 out of 10.”
Minister Duggins said the initiative forms part of the Government’s wider effort to create stronger development pathways for athletes across the Federation.
“When we speak about investing in our athletes, this is what we mean. It is about giving talented young men and women access to high-performance coaching, sports science, specialist support and environments that challenge them to reach another level,” he said.
“This is precisely why partnerships like these matter. Government cannot bowl the overs, score the runs or take the wickets for our athletes. What we can do is help create the pathways, provide access and invest in opportunities that give our people every chance to succeed. Jeremiah took his opportunity and continues to put in the work, and today we celebrate him for an outstanding achievement that has made St. Kitts and Nevis proud.”
Minister Duggins extended congratulations to Louis, his family, coaches and the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, and wished him continued success throughout the remainder of the CPL season and his cricketing career.
