Nevisian Kaliyah Jones was one of two Monroe Mustangs women athletes who had standout performances at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend. Jones and Brooke Sheppard both punched their tickets to the 2026 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Jones opened the meet with a strong showing in the 400m, running 55.81 in her outdoor season debut. The second-year standout from Nevis not only secured a national qualifying mark, but also recorded the second-fastest time of her career.
Jones also competed in the 200m. She ran a personal record, (PR) of 24.88 in the Women’s 200m Section 16, for a second place finish. Her time ranked 50th overall from a field of 149 athletes.
Sheppard impressed in her outdoor debut, clocking 2:18.03 in the 800m.
