Lubbock, Texas, March 15, 2026 – Another year, another award for Monroe University track and field coach Shirvon Greene. Last week in Lubbock, Texas, Coach Greene was named the USTFCCA Atlantic Region Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the various region awards for the 2026 indoor season on 8th March, 2026. Greene, student athletes, Sarah Lea-Cohen, Modou Sanneh, Analissa Remond and Assistant Coaches Shanique McKenzie-Daniel and Jimmy Ascencio were all named as recipients for top awards for the Atlantic Region.

Since Coach Greene was promoted to Head Coach of the Track and Field Team in 2021, he has won both of the awards ever since.
This year, Greene and his team, led the Mustangs Men to 3 school records. They were set; 200m (20.97), 400m (46.28) & 600m (1:17.56). His athletes were ranked No. 1 in a region in 5
events (200m, 400m,600m,1K & 5k ). Nationally his athletes rank No. 1 & No. 2 in the 400m & No. 2 in the 600m .
Additionally, they also led the Women’s team to the No. 1 ranking in the Atlantic region. Athletes ranked #1 in a region high 6 events. There were 7 National qualifiers in 9
events and 1 school record was set in the Long Jump(5.82m).

His assistant coaches also won Men’s Assistsant Coach of the Year Award and Women Coach of the Year Award respectively.
