Earlier this medium reported that a: ‘Shooting and Unruly Behaviour Brought The J’Ouvert Jam to An Abrupt End In Sugar City’ – Since then SKN PULSE Media were reliably informed that the shooting incident involved an officer whose firearm was discharged after he fell.
As a result, two women were accidentally shot when the officer’s firearm discharged. The officer at the time was trying to apprehend an assailant.
The names of the officer and the women were not disclosed; the women received injuries to their legs.
According to a press statement from The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force both women and the officer were taken to the Joseph N. France Hospital where they received treatment and were discharged.
In a separate incident, a police officer was attacked while trying to make an arrest. The statement said:
The second Officer is warded at the hospital after he too was attacked trying to make an arrest during another incident.
The annual J’Ouvert came to a premature end as various incidents marred the Jam.
Arising out of these incidents some sixty-four (64) persons were taken into custody and are assisting Police with their investigations. The Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incidents that took place Wednesday morning to contact the Basseterre Police Station by dialling 465-2241.
