Antiguan allrounder, Rahkeem Cornwall has received a maiden Test call up for the West Indies in their upcoming series against India.
The off-spinner is among 13-selectees for the Windies’ squad after his impressive season with the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the West Indies Championship.
Throughout Cornwall’s career, he has captured 260 wickets in 55 first-class matches and has an average of 25 in 97 innings.
Cornwall has featured prominently in the West Indies B setup and also played for the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI in 2017. On August 22, the 26 year old will have his chance to shine on the international stage in the two-match series.
According to chief selector Robert Haynes,
Rahkeem has been performing consistently over a long period of time and has proven to be a match-winner, so we believe his elevation to the Test squad is merited at this time.
The full West Indies Test squad for the upcoming India series: Jason Holder (c), Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach.
