Tylo Morton of the St. Thomas’ Primary School was adjudged the Most Valuable Player for the 2019 edition of the Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools Cricket Tournament.
At a brief closing ceremony chaired by Mr. Carl Tuckett, awards and medals were presented to the young cricketers.
Prior to the start of the ceremony, Mr. Joseph Woolard, a grand-parent of one of the Ivor Walters player’s rendered the invocation prayer.
Present at the ceremony were Ag. Director of Sports-Brian Dowe; Minister of Education, Hon. Troy Liburd, Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn and representatives of TDC, Thyrone Hendrickson and Manager of TDC Financial Services (Nevis), Keesha Jones.
The Sports Minister along with the Acting Sports Director and the Minister of Education gave brief remarks and lauded the efforts of the sponsors, TDC and the collaborative efforts of the Ministries and Departments of Sports and Education in ensuring that the tournament is a success year after year.
Both the Ivor Walters Primary School and the St. Thomas’ School were congratulated by all speakers.
Minister Evelyn on behalf of the Sports Department presented TDC with a plaque for their continued partnership with Primary School cricket. Manager of TDC Financial Services (Nevis), Keesha Jones collected on behalf of the company.
The awards given were as follows:
MVP of The Tournament- Tylo Nisbett-STPS
Most Disciplined Team-Maude Cross Preparatory
Most Runs- Kamal Brandy – EPPS
Most Wickets- Carlon Ferdinand – JLPS – 13 wickets
Best Wicketkeeper- Anthony Moving – STPS
Player of the Finals – Isaiah Saddler –STPS
The Champion team St. Thomas’ Primary School and runner up, Ivor Walters Primary School were presented with their first and second place trophy respectively.
