SKN PULSE – In October, Kittitian and Nevisian Entrepreneurs, Akila S. Henry and Tito Chapman will join 248 Entrepreneurs from across the Caribbean and Latin America in Atlanta, Georgia to kick-off their four-week Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellows Program.
According to the released profiles of the two Nationals in the YLAI biographies, Akila S. Henry is the Founder and President of a start-up domestic violence organization, Hope by Help. The mission of her organization is to raise awareness about domestic violence through advocacy, sharing of resources, and assistance. Akila is also the Media Officer in the Ministry of Education for the Government of St. Christopher and Nevis. Ms. Henry holds a B.A. in Communication specializing in Speech Communication from the University of the Virgin Islands.

While Tito Chapman, is the Founder and CEO of SKN PULSE, a media and advertising company. SKN PULSE allows its customers to market their businesses, run social media campaigns, and create brand awareness in an effective way. Tito has previously worked as a teacher, coach, and mentor at the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School.
Akila and Tito are elated for this opportunity to hone their skills and have pledged to make the best of it.
They will collaborate with their counterparts in businesses and civil society organizations. Fellows will be hosted in over 24 cities as they strengthen business ties between the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. The program concludes with a closing Summit in early November in Washington, D.C. focused on leadership and skills development training.
It is expected that during the program, the 2017 Fellows will advance their entrepreneurial ideas and build leadership skills to effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities.
Selected from over 3,000 applicants, Akila, Tito along with their counterparts represent 36 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Upon completing the exchange, Fellows will return to their ventures with new insight, resources, ongoing support from U.S. counterparts and an improved network.
