BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, March 15th 2017 – Arrests have been made and charges brought against persons for shooting incidents in Sandy Point.

However none of the persons arrested and charged have been connected to the gunfire attacks on the Sandy Point home and private vehicle of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Shawn Richards.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force in a statement indicated Tuesday that the arrest and charge of Hakeem Frederick of Farm Site, Sandy Point is in relation to the armed attack on Jacqueline Buchanan, an aunt of Deputy Prime Minister Richards.

Hakeem Frederick has been cautioned for the offences of attempted murder, and three (3) charges of shooting at with intent, stemming from the Wednesday (March 01) shooting incident in Mount Idle, Sandy Point.

Also charged in the attack on Buchanan are Hakeem Mills of Crab Hill, Sandy Point and Omari Frederick of Farms Site, Sandy Point.

Both were also charged with the offences of attempted murder, and three (3) charges of shooting at with intent.

Hakeem Mills was also charged with the offence of attempted murder and shooting at with intent stemming from a Saturday (March 4th) shooting incident in Farms Housing Development in Sandy Point, when he allegedly shot at the home of Buchanan.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force said last Friday that its officers responded to a report of gunfire at around 3:15 a.m. and observed damage to Richard’s home and vehicle consistent with gunshots.  No one was injured.
