Basseterre, St. Kitts – The St. Kitts and Nevis National football team continues to grow from strength to strength. The Sugar Boyz were victorious in last night’s, (Saturday 6 May) encounter against Barbados at the Warner Park Stadium. Final goal count, St. Kitts (2) – Barbados (1).
The international friendly between the two regional teams was keenly contested. Team St. Kitts and Nevis blended youth and experience as they featured players from the U20 National team.
The early dominance by St. Kitts and Nevis in the first half led to their first goal by Jaheim Blanchette in the 9th minute.
Barbados scored an equalizer in the 43rd minute which ensured that the teams went into the half tied at 1-1.
Barbados came back in the second half and seemingly looked alot more comfortable as they adjusted and outplayed their Kittitian counterparts.
However, team St. Kitts and Nevis didn’t lose hope, as in the 74th minute Carlos Bertie found the back of the net for the Sugar Boyz second goal.
In the end team St. Kitts and Nevis held on to win the encounter 2-1. Javeim Blanchette and Carlos Bertie were the goal scorers for St. Kitts and Nevis.
Rashad Jules was the lone goal scorer for the Barbados team.
