A small aircraft crashed in the waters off Herbert’s beach, Nevis earlier this evening.
The aircraft, a Piper single engine plane, departed from Antigua and was heading to St Martin when it developed engine trouble.
The pilot attempted to land the plane at the Vance W. Amory International Airport but crashed into the sea on approach.
There were only two persons aboard the plane, the pilot who hails from St. Martin and a Student pilot who hails from Anguilla. Both swam ashore with only minor injury to the pilot.
Attempts are being made to remove the plane from the sea.
