Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 4th, 2025)— The St. Kitts Electricity Company Limited (SKELEC) marked World Engineering Day by engaging with students across the island in an educational tour aimed at inspiring future engineers and innovators. On Monday, March 3, 2025, representatives from SKELEC visited three schools—Halliday Smith Primary School, Edgar T. Morris Primary School, and the Washington Archibald High School—to spark students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers.
Through interactive discussions, students learned about the critical role of engineers in the power industry and the importance of STEM-related fields in nation-building. SKELEC’s team provided insights into the various engineering disciplines within the electricity sector and encouraged students to consider careers that drive technological advancement and infrastructure development.

Speaking on the initiative, SKELEC’s General Manager, Clement Williams, emphasized the company’s commitment to youth empowerment through education. “Engineering and STEM fields are at the heart of innovation and sustainability,” Mr. Williams said. “By engaging students early, we hope to inspire the next generation of problem solvers who will contribute to the development of St. Kitts and Nevis. SKELEC is proud to support educational initiatives that prepare young minds for the future.”
The World Engineering Day tour is part of SKELEC’s broader outreach efforts to promote STEM education and career awareness among students. The company remains dedicated to fostering a culture of learning and professional development that aligns with global advancements in technology and energy.
