PRESS RELEASE
Release Date: Immediate
Crossroads SKN Project would like to invite parents, educators, young people and community groups to the Presentation & Awards Evening to celebrate the students from Verchilds High and Basseterre High Schools; who participated in the Crossroads Pilot Project this Friday 9th June 2017.
On the evening, there will be screenings of the short films created by the students and award certificates to reward and recognise their efforts. Performing artist Dejour has confirmed he will also be giving a live performance and short talk on the evening, whilst artist Shanna Raymond will be there to present certificates of achievement and provide inspirational words of encouragement.
Elishah St Juste, a Birmingham (UK) based entrepreneur, experienced actor, facilitator and founder of Juste4Arts, travelled to St Kitts in April to deliver a 2-month project with students from Basseterre and Verchilds High Schools.
Elishah who holds both British and St Kitts citizenship, self-funded the trip and crowdfunded in the UK so that she could utilise her skills to support young people in the federation. Crossroads Project SKN is a pilot project created by Elishah St Juste and Serena McCormack who is also based in the UK. Using drama and film to discuss issues the young people in St Kitts are challenged with, the project was designed to help the young people become more aware of alternative routes to take, and organisations they can access for support.
There will also be light refreshments served on the evening and time to network with the hope to build new relationships and partnerships. Elishah is hoping that she can set up a longer term sustainable programme to be rolled out across more schools in the federation and is planning to relocate from England in 2018 having spent over a decade working in television, touring Europe, working in prisons and schools across the world.
The event will take place on Friday 9th June 2017 at 6pm until 8pm, held at The Oojjs Conference Centre, (above the 24 hours Gas Station, Camps). To attend this event, you MUST RSVP to [email protected] or call 869 766 3642.
