The Asian Punjabi Folk Dance Club visited St Kitts and Nevis as its last stop on a tour which took in Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. The aim of the tour is to preserve, showcase and share the culture, lifestyle and timeless heritage of northern India specifically the Punjab.

Prime Minister Harris said:

“I want to thank all of the members of the Asian Punjabi Folk Dance Club for travelling great distances to entertain us and for keeping such a noble history alive.”

He added: “St Kitts and Nevis is a wonderfully diverse Federation and as a consequence this diversity enriches our culture. As a member of what is a global village, events which celebrate diverse histories through the performance arts such as dance, serve to remind us of our common values such as love, family and community.”

“Every member of the community, no matter what their cultural roots, plays an important part in its resilience and positive development. I therefore want to thank the members of the Indian community here in St Kitts and Nevis for their contributions to all aspects of life here, for working together with us in unity, to create a better society for all. Whilst we may have diverse histories, we have a collective future.”
