SKN PULSE – The West Indies have named an unchanged 13-man squad, which includes Nevisian Kieran Powell, the left handed opening batsman.
The unchanged squad played to a 1-1 draw against Afghanistan early this month. The squad was named for the first two ODIs of the five-match series against India starting on June 23.
The squad reads: Jason Holder (capt), Devendra Bishoo, Jonathan Carter, Roston Chase, Miguel Cummins, Shai Hope (wk),Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammad, Ashley Nurse, Kieran Powell, Rovman Powell and Kesrick Williams.
Noticeably absent from the squad is Shannon Gabriel. The fast bowler is still is still rehabilitating from an injury that forced him out of the Afghanistan series.
Facing a must win series, the West Indies must dig deep to pull off an upset to boost their ICC ranking, currently they are ranked 9th in the world.
India is currently ranked No.3 in the world and are coming into this series fresh off a loss to Pakistan after a runner-up finish at the Champions Trophy.
The five-match series commences on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago. The ODIs would be a followed by a Twenty20 game on July 9, which marks the end of India’s tour.
