Charlestown, Nevis, (SKN PULSE) – Late this evening, (April 15) Junior Minister in the Ministry of Communications, Works and Public Utilities, Posts, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Environment with special responsibility for Public Utilities, Public Works, Posts, Physical Planning, Flood, Water Control and Environment provided an update on the water situation through a social media post.
Minister Liburd informed his facebook followers that personnel of the Nevis Water Department (NWD) were successful in installing a new pump at the BEAD Maddens Height Pumping Station. According to Liburd, the pump installed is the replacement pump provided by BEAD and is currently pumping at a rate of 300 imperial gallons per minute.
Liburd also notified the public that some areas maybe experiencing outages at this time. The situation he explained should normalize over the next week as it will take some time for reservoirs to fill. Liburd insists that the Government is sensitive to the needs of our people and have left no stone un-turned in trying to restore steady supply.
Liburd also used the opportunity to express thanks to the General Public for their patience, support and understanding. Further, he thanked the ‘guys’ who came out at 6 am today, (Saturday) and were there until almost 8 pm to complete the job.
