Team Nevis who proposed the moot, ‘The technological age has caused severe dilution of authentic Caribbean culture,’ impressed judges and defeated team St. Kitts in the semi-finals of the 48th Annual Leeward Islands Debating Competition which is being held in Montserrat.

Represented by Mikkel Meloney and Dhalia Slack, Nevis amassed 591 points and was declared winners over team St. Kitts who amassed 552 points.

Dahlia Slack, who impressed the judges secured the Best Speaker Award.

Team Nevis will now face off against team Anguilla tomorrow at 5pm. Nevis will be looking to clinch its 11th title to lay claim to having the most wins in LIDC history.

Nevis will propose the Moot:

The prevalence of chronic diseases, supersedes unemployment as a significant hindrance to Caribbean development.

The finals is scheduled to commence at 5pm.
