Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 14, 2018 (SKNIS): The 2018 staging of the eighth annual 25 Most Remarkable Teens in St. Kitts and Nevis marks the first time that the initiative, organized by the Department of Youth Empowerment, is being sponsored by a private entity. Mackie Hazel Memorial Funeral Home has stepped forward to print the booklets that feature the profiles of the remarkable teens.
Members of the Federal Parliament and the audience in the gallery of the National Assembly Chambers look forward to getting a copy of the booklets, which are keepsakes. A synopsis of the life stories of the young people often inspires readers and motivates youth to keep pushing for their goals.
The ceremony takes place tomorrow, Thursday, (November 15) at the National Assembly Chamber at 6:30 pm. During the ceremony, 25 young people will be awarded for outstanding achievements in several areas.
Joel Richardson, Owner and Managing Director of the funeral home said that the sponsorship was made from his heart. He noted that the young people should be encouraged, as the majority play a positive role in service to their community and the twin-island nation.
This sentiment is captured at the back of the booklet, which reads: We “congratulate all who would have contributed towards their [awardees’] development and strongly advocate that they continue to support their growth as they proceed through life’s precious journey.”
Sahira David, Senior Youth Officer, in the Department of Youth Empowerment, welcomed the partnership with the private company. She noted that the appearance of the booklet has been enhanced, which adds to the desire to keep the memento. She added that the department is open to further partnerships with individuals, organizations and businesses.
