The Police have formally charged Lukelly Carmichael of Morning Star, Nevis, on three (3) warrants for the offence of Assault with Intent to Rob.
Carmichael was charged on September 2nd, 2023, at the Newcastle Police Station on Nevis.
The charge is in connection to a botched robbery at Rams Supermarket on August 20.
According to the police on that day, 5 armed men entered the supermarket at about 2:30 pm.
They attacked the Security Guard with an umbrella and proceeded to demand the cashiers to open the cash tills.
The robbers were unable to get them open and eventually aborted their attack and fled the scene in vehicle that was stolen from a customer who was entering the supermarket.
The stolen vehicle was abandoned by the robbers and recovered by the Police at Long Point.
Carmichael is the fourth person to be charged. Clijuarn Henry, Kennedy Rodriguez, and T’iquan Pennyfeather have also been charged with Assault with Intent to Rob.
