Charlestown, Nevis – The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School represented by Eldon Liburd and Haphaney Leitch won the 2017 edition of the Tourism Quiz sponsored by the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club.
The quiz which was held on Thursday, February 16 saw the representatives from the nine primary schools questioned on Cultural Heritage, Geography and Environment and Caribbean Tourism.
At the end of the three rounds, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School had a perfect score. With 45 points from three rounds, JLPS were announced as the winners. The Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School who scored 40 points placed second and the Ivor Walters Primary School placed third.
There was a three way tie for third place between the St. Thomas’ Primary, the Ivor Walters and Nevis Academy who all finished with 35 points. However, at the end of the tie breaker, the Ivor Walters officially was named third place winners.
The quiz was coordinated by Senior Tourism Education officer Mr. Dorson Ottley.
The participants and winners were awarded with participation trophies presented by General Manager of Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, Mr Tim Thuell and the winning school and the runners up would be treated with lunch at Nisbets Plantation Beach Club, Bananas Bistro and Mems Pizzeria.

Nevis Academy – Mikaela Maynard and Devshi Saxena
St. James Primary School – Malishwa Browne and Emma Johnson
Violet O’ Jeffers-Nichols Primary School – Brianna Jones and Hujay Jeffers
