SKN PULSE – Fluctuations in strength with Hurricane Irma continues but it remains a powerful hurricane as of this morning.
The weather report as of 5(am) this morning outlined that maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts – a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.
With the fluctuations in strength, (up or down), it’s possible during the next couple of days, but Irma is expected to remain a powerful hurricane into early next week.
According to Hurricane Center, Irma is centered at 5 a.m. AST/EDT about 1320 miles (2120 km) east of the Leeward Islands, moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A west-southwest motion is expected during the next couple of days. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands should monitor the progress of this system.
