Suspended MP Theodore Heyliger who was admitted to St. Maarten Medical Center almost two weeks ago has been released from pretrial detention.
Earlier Tuesday evening, Heyliger was released on $200,000.00 bail after surrendering his passport, (it will be available when he needs to travel for medical attention).
The Court of Appeal heard Hyliger’s detention case early Tuesday afternoon and rendered a quick decision even after suggesting they would have rendered it in two days.
According to reports Prosecutors came to an agreement on his release due to Heyliger’s severe medical condition.
The suspended MP underwent kidney surgery last Monday and it is understood that a cancerous tumor was removed. As a result, Hylegier needs urgent medical treatment overseas.
MP Heyliger was arrested on February 19th at his Guana Bay home as the main suspect in the Larimar investigation.
The trial is expected to begin on May 27th.
