Charlestown, Nevis – Minister Brantley recently stated that Culturama #43 was the best ever and that there was a record nineteen Calypsonians who entered the Kaiso competition; however he seems to have gotten it wrong again for many pundits have claimed that despite Culturama #43 been touted as one of the biggest it certainly wasn’t the best if compared to Culturama 1979 and many other years .
Information gathered from returning nationals and ardent Calypso fans indicate that during the era of I.C’S Brass and Soul Survivors Brass there were in excess of twenty five Calypsonians entering the Quarterfinals on numerous occasions. Of course tents were organized to ensure calypsonians had ample practice. This coupled with the pre-Culturama Jam sessions around Charlestown enhanced the festival tremendously back then.
The Minister of Culture ought to get the historical facts and stop deceiving the public in his attempt to blow his own trumpet with false information.
