Defending SKNFA Premier League Champions S L Horsfords St. Pauls’ United made a case for their title defense on Monday night at the SKNFA Technical Center with a resounding 4-0 victory over playoffs upstarts MFCR Old Road United Jets in the 2023 Super Six Playoffs. All four goals were scored by St. Paul’s’ talisman and the regular season MVP and leading goal scorer Keithroy Freeman. The manager of St. Paul’s Derionne Edmeade, commented on the improved effort in his team’s defense. “Tonight, we really saw a lot of communication in defense,” he said.

In the earlier match of Monday’s playoff double-header, Rams Village Superstars dispatched Flow 4G Cayon Rockets 2-0 to make Cayon’s chance of making the finals, very, very slim. Goals were scored by Kimaree Rogers and Tahir Hanley in the second half of the match. Assistant Coach of the Village Superstars Vaughn Patrick, said the players were in good spirits and were well prepared to start the match on the front foot. “I must commend the fellas for a well-hard-fought victory. We have been instilling in them all the time that they have to start the game (strong)…Today they got the go-ahead goal and then we kept up the momentum and continued,” Patrick surmised.

Cayon’s Coach Al Richards said Cayon did everything right except score. “We had chances in the first half, chances in the second half—nothing. If you don’t score your goals, and you make a mistake, that’s it,” Richards added. The Super Six playoffs now move to the Warner Park football stadium where each team will play two matches to complete the round-robin round of the tournament before the two finalists are decided.
