FOURTEEN PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE CERTIFICATES FOR COMPLETING A1 TWI LANGUAGE COURSE

Basseterre, St Kitts, Wednesday, February 18, 2026: Fourteen course participants in St. Kitts and Nevis gathered for a special certificate ceremony chaired by H.E Nerys Dockery, Secretary General of the St. Kitts Nevis National Commission for UNESCO, marking the successful completion of the A1 Twi Language Course offered by the Twi Learning Center in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday, February 18.

The course, which began in 2025 and was designed for beginners, provided participants with a strong foundation in Twi, equipping them with essential communication skills. 

Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Education, encouraged the participants to apply their newly acquired skills toward personal growth and positive societal impact.

“The knowledge you have gained from this course will not only enrich your personal lives but also contribute to the development of our communities. By embracing our African heritage, we can promote a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding, which is essential for building a brighter future for ourselves and our communities.”

He further expressed his gratitude to H.E. Mrs. Ama Martin, special Envoy of St. Kitts and Nevis to Germany and Ghana, for her diligent work in organizing this scholarship opportunity for the participants, and to the administrators of the Twi LearningCenter for their essential partnership in carrying out the exchange. Minister Hanley also congratulated the participants and thanked them for their interest and commitment to completing the course.

The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by Mrs. Lisa Pistana, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, who joined in recognizing the participants for their dedication and commitment to continuous learning.

The opportunity to participate in the programme forms part of the Ministry of Education’s mandate to promote continuous learning, capacity building, and global exposure. The Ministry has consistently emphasized that investing in education, both locally and internationally, is central to national development.
