Former West Indies coach to contest by-election in Barbados

Former West Indies skipper Floyd Reifer will lead the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) charge in the constituency of St George North in the imminent by-election to be held on November 11, 2020.

The 48-year-old Reifer beat out four other candidates and was selected by the Executive Council and the General Council, which met at the DLP’s George Street headquarters on Tuesday 29, September, 2020.

Reifer replaces Jepter Ince who contested the 2018 election for the Democratic Labour Party.

In 2009, he served as captain of a second-string West Indies team to face Bangladesh.

Reifer, also played for Barbados and was captain and coach of the Combined Campuses and Colleges team which played in the regional competitions. He also served as head coach of the regional team.

The St George North by-election is set for November 11, 2020.
