NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (June 29, 2023)- The family of the late Trevoy “Trevy” Liburd has donated an essential piece of medical equipment to the Pediatric Ward at the Alexandra Hospital in his memory.
During a handing over ceremony on June 28, Ms. Johnella Evelyn, Trevoy’s sister, presented a vital signs monitor to Hospital Administrator Mr. Gary Pemberton.
“A year ago we lost a loved one who was dear to our hearts, his name was Trevoy “Trevy” Liburd. Trevy had a keen interest in the nurturing of children and for this reason the members of his family are here today to present this vital sign monitor to the Pediatric Unit. May his legacy never be forgotten,” she said.
Mr. Pemberton thanked the Liburd family for the donation, noting that the monitor is important in the provision of the highest quality patient care. The equipment gives medical professionals real-time, remote access to vital sign data, providing an authentic measurement of a patient’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, and heart rate.
“On behalf of the staff of the Alexandra Hospital and by extension the Ministry of Health and our Minister of Health Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, we want to say a big thank you to the Liburd family for this timely donation of a vital signs monitor to the Pediatric Ward.
“This vital signs monitor will assist us in better monitoring of our patients and to provide the best quality care at all times to the patients. So once again on behalf of the Ministry of Health and the Alexandra Hospital a big thank you the Liburd family and we want to wish you all the best.”
Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Liburd said the donation was timed to coincide with the anniversary of when Trevy’s body was recovered on June 27, 2022, after being missing at sea for several days. Trevy’s father described the well-liked young man as having a jovial attitude and fun spirit.
A large contingent of family members including his brothers Eutroy and Evroy Liburd and niece Eulynae Liburd was present at the hospital administrative building for the donation.
Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Florell Hobson; Dhaima Golding, Assistant Matron; and Mrs. Shinnelle Browne, Assistant Administrator were also on hand for the ceremony.
