SKN PULSE – Change in leadership, change in representative: The Concerned Citizens Movement over the past few weeks have provided fresh leadership and added a new voice to the fray as they ready themselves for the upcoming Nevis Local Elections.
Last night, (Friday 24th November, 2017) at Hanleys Road, Gingerlanders and Nevisians alike witnessed the passing of the baton and launch of Mr. Eric Evelyn, the candidate for the Concerned Citizens Movement for consitutuency #3 in the upcoming local election.
Evelyn, a former Permanent Secretary in Agriculture, (long standing civil servant), community activist, commentator/radio announcer and family man said “I have done so much out of Government and I plan to do so much in Government”.
As the present care-taker for the St. George’s Constituency, (CCM), Mr. Evelyn dubbed the ‘Mayor’ of Gingerland emphasized that his hands are clean. He stated, “I come into politics with no baggage – not checked nor carry on”.
Mr. Evelyn also used the opportunity to thank Mr. Amory for his contribution and assured him that he would follow in his footsteps.
The night’s event featured tributes to Mr. Evelyn from Gingerland residents, candidates, party leader and Premier Amory.
Additionally, the Rawlins Masquerade, the Sugar Hill Stringband among others created a festive atmosphere as they entertained those in attendance while paying homage to Mr. Evelyn.
The rally was chaired by Honourable Hazel Brandy Williams. The night’s activities culminated with fireworks and entertainment as the candidates engaged party supporters and well-wishers.
Mr. Evelyn would be coming up against Mr. Cory Tyson of the Nevis Reformation Party.
