(EMU) – St. Kitts, October 31, 2018: Staff at the Education Planning Division are currently engaged in a development planning activity from October 30-31, at the Fairview Great House and Botanical Garden in Boyd’s.
The two day session, held annually provides a forum for department wide dialogue. It will assist the department in meeting its objectives and plans for 2019 based on the progress made in 2018 as well as building skill-sets that will enable staff to improve workflows and interpersonal relationships.’
“It is these kinds of activities that enable us in the Ministry to ensure that we stay tethered to our core work, that is to ensure that we take seriously our commitment to implementing the strategies in the Education Sector Plan that we’ve identified to improve education delivery and management in the Federation,” said Dr. Neva Pemberton, Chief of Education Planning.
On day one of the session the staff interacted and received presentations by Mr. Cuthbert John, a project management professional. Mr. John led an interactive segment on developing standard operating procedures, which will aid in the improvement of governance within the department. Co-facilitator, Mrs. Michele Blake an employee of the Government’s Counselling Unit, will work with the staff to build on their interpersonal working relationships to enhance the professional climate.
In closing Dr. Pemberton reiterated, “I am hopeful that this two-day session will be an insightful and motivating respite from our day to day work, and that we will leave with renewed energy and a common vision for activities of the Education Planning Division in 2019.”
