Press Release: CFBC
Déjonique Spanner, the 2024 National TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Scholar, said she “feels overjoyed and deeply grateful for the recognition and the opportunity to represent the programme.”
“This achievement serves as both motivation and validation of my hard work, and I am truly appreciative to hold such a prestigious title. From the moment I enrolled, it was my goal to become the TVET Scholar, so achieving this milestone makes the recognition even more meaningful,” she said.

Ms. Spanner is the daughter of Lesrie Hanley and Diego Spanner. As a proud alumna of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), she said her journey “has been profoundly influenced by her family and community.” She completed an Associate Degree in the Office Administration and Management (OADM) Programme with straight A’s in all her courses over two years. Her exceptional performance secured her an internship at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and landed her a full-time position at the Bank upon completing her internship.
She said that she pursued the OADM programme because “it was the perfect course for someone aspiring to build a business career.”
“The programme offered a well-rounded structure, covering essential business courses that provided a strong foundation. Additionally, I preferred TVEMS (Technical and Vocational Education and Management Studies) for its hands-on approach, which included an internship opportunity at the end, allowing me to gain practical experience and apply what I had learned in a real-world setting,” she added.
Ms. Spanner aspires to a career in finance, specifically in financial technology.
“The evolving landscape of finance, driven by innovation and technology, excites me, and I aspire to contribute to the industry by combining my knowledge of business with cutting-edge financial solutions,” she stated.
She said her experience at CFBC “was truly memorable and exceeded my expectations” and that “the learning environment was not only favourable but also motivating, making my time at CFBC an invaluable experience.”
She offered encouraging words to current and aspiring CFBC students.
“I cannot stress enough the importance of self-respect and showing respect to others. College is an important stage in life, and I encourage students to carry themselves with dignity and professionalism,” Ms. Spanner said. “It is crucial to stay grounded, remain focused on academic goals, and give schoolwork your full attention. Taking studies seriously and maintaining discipline will set the foundation for future success.”
She thanked her classmates and lecturers for sharing in her journey.
“From the outside, each step appeared daunting, but once I got there, I realized it wasn’t as hard as I imagined. I even look back and wonder why I was ever afraid,” the National TVET scholar said.
