The Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT), is urging the regional body, Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) against conducting its Caribbean Secondary Education (CSEC) examinations in july.
According to CUT, holding examinations will jeopardize thousands of lives.
In a statement issued last Monday, (18th) night the CUT expressed concern after the Council for Human and Social Development met on May 8 and said they would support CXC’s position to hold CSEC examinations in July.
The union said:
The CUT believes that this unfortunate decision places the lives of thousands of students and teachers at risk, as all the issues surrounding the administering of the examinations have not been addressed.
The uncertainty regarding the staging of CXC examinations, which are conducted in May and June each year is as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
