NASPA Long Point Nevis (December 12, 2019) – The Vance W Amory International Airport in collaboration with Cape Air welcomed their first of many flights to the island of Nevis after resuming their daily activity into the island.
During the welcoming ceremony, which was hosted earlier today, December 12th, 2019 at the Vance W Amory International Airport, Marketing Director, Cape Air in the Caribbean, Katya Ruiz explained that since announcing the return of the flights, there have been advanced bookings made.
“As soon as we announced it [flights to Nevis] we started getting bookings right away. The advanced bookings for Nevis are looking really healthy…we’re happy to return and service the Vance Amory airport once again and the beautiful destination of Nevis. Nevis is a great fit to add to our route map and our operation down here in the Caribbean,” she said.
Also present at the ceremony was General Manager of the Nevis Air & Sea Ports Authority (NASPA), Oral Brandy, who explained that Cape Air suspended flights to Nevis airport in 2015 but has resumed their daily flights as of today.
“We are certainly happy to have them, it’s an airline that we are excited about working with as we would have done in the past and so we welcome them back to the Vance W Amory International Airport,” he said.
Mr. Brandy explained that the airline extends their contribution to the Nevisian community by hosting workshops regularly for the airport staff.
“Training our security and maintenance staff in certain areas, installing equipment, at the Vance W Amory international airport I believe that they have long term commitment in mind and so we do look forward to working with them,” he said.
Also present at the welcoming ceremony was Deputy Premier of Nevis, Hon. Alexis Jeffers who welcomed the partnership and encouraged the public to use the international airport.
“For us to grow, and for the island to grow, we have to all play our part in it to ensure that growth comes to the island of Nevis and its starts at the Vance Amory International Airport. Use this service, understand that you are being patriotic by doing so because you are supporting the island,” he said.
