The Leewards Islands 50 over competition has ended with Nevis reigning supreme over rivals Antigua.
Spectators at the popular Sir Vivian Richards Stadium knew they were in for a treat once the Antigua and Nevis game got on the way.
Antigua & Barbuda having won the toss decided to bat first. They made 207/8 in their allotted 50 overs.
Orlando Peters topped scored with 52 and Kofi Jmaes posted 38. Hard-hitting all-rounder Rhakeem Cornwall wasn’t able to trouble the Nevisian bowlers significantly. He made 27.
Left Arm spin bowler, Theron Bussue and speedster, Nelson Bolan where the pick of the bowlers for the Nevis Team. They both bagged three wickets a piece.
The disciplined Bussue, who has been making a name for himself, also bagged two wickets yesterday against Montserrat; a game in which the Nevis Team won by some 100 runs.
Nevis reached their target after being in a spot of bother after 18 overs. They were 78/3.
Saeed Williams, the promising young batsman came through for team Nevis as he scored a patient half century to ensure victory for his team. He hit an unbeaten 51. Captain Adelvin Phillip contributed with 33.
Nevis won by two wickets.
