• Saturday 8th February – A day that will be etched in Carlon Bowen-Tuckett’s memory – Scored his maiden first class century.

West Indies Academy wicket-keeper/batsman, Carlon Bowen-Tuckett, scored his maiden first class century against Barbados at the Kensington Oval in the second round of the West Indies Championship.

Firstly I want to give all glory to God, for giving me the ability to bat and keep.

Carlon Bowen-Tuckett

With the Academy reeling at 211-6 overnight, Carlon Bowen-Tuckett converted his overnight 71 into a well-crafted unbeaten century, finishing on 103 not out as his team was bowled out for 288.

Bowen-Tuckett and Zishan Motara (10) resumed on the final day hoping to stage a fightback but Warrican struck early for Barbados.

Edging closer and closer to making his century, Tuckett and Johann Layne put together a 50 run eight wicket partnership with Layne contributing 27. Bowen-Tuckett scored his century from 154 balls and celebrated with loud screams.

Last season, Bowen-Tuckett scored two half centuries. His previous highest score was 76 not out against Combined Campuses and Colleges.

Bowen-Tuckett’s biggest supporter, his mother, flew in to witness his significant achievement firsthand.
