West Indies speedstar, Alzarri Joseph cops a historic debut – Second player to bag a five wicket haul on debut in the IPL and best figures of 6/12.
Signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement player for Adam Milne, Joseph made his debut ahead of the experienced Mitch McClenaghan.
Joseph cemented his name in the IPL history books as he struck with his first delivery to dismiss David Warner. He picked up his second wicket in the second over.
In speaking with the media after the game, Joseph said:
It is a dream. I could not have asked for a better start. I just backed my plans and it worked. My plan was to keep it simple and back myself. I know we had a game to win and I was focused on that.
The boys are playing well and putting in a lot of hard work. The coaches are also helping us with their inputs.
He went on to get the best figures in IPL history, taking 6 wickets for 12 runs in 3.4 overs as he helped Mumbai Indians defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 40 runs.
Joseph was adjudged Man of the Match.
