The 15 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 have all recovered.
This news marks 29 days since the last diagnosis of Coronavirus in St. Kitts and Nevis was confirmed. The data was revealed yesterday, Monday 18, 2020 during the Chief Medical Officer’s presentation at the National Emergency Operation Centre Daily Briefing.
According to Dr Cameron Wilkinson, Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N. France General Hospital, the news was particularly satisfying for health officials and other stakeholders, who have been working tirelessly since the end of January to protect residents from the dreaded disease.
He stated:
We have come through a significant journey, and today I am very pleased to hear that in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, all of the cases have recovered. The patients and their families went through a terrifying ordeal after being diagonised with COVID-19.
“I just want to tell them how happy I am for them and I am pretty certain that the entire nation feels the same way,” the senior health official stated.
To be classified as recovered, the patients had to receive two successive COVID-19 tests with negative results.
