The Tricia Greaux Ocean Governance BEACON Award is a newly established honor recognizing outstanding women in the Blue Economy and Ocean Governance sectors. This award is presented in partnership with the Department of Gender Affairs – St. Kitts and the Department of Gender Affairs – Nevis.
The award is being launched in commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD), March 8, 2026, and reflects a commitment to celebrating women whose leadership and contributions have shaped marine and maritime spaces across the Federation. Two BEACON Awards will be presented during the International Women’s Day ceremonies on both islands.

About the BEACON Award
The Tricia Greaux Ocean Governance BEACON Award recognizes a woman who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, sustained success, and influence over several years in the marine or maritime sector.
A BEACON awardee is a woman whose light has guided others along the path of success and served as a source of inspiration for partners, stakeholders, and institutions within the industry. She is a bold, respected leader whose work reflects long-term achievement, community engagement, and professional growth. The recipient will be a woman widely recognized for her positive influence, competence, and integrity, and whose contributions have driven meaningful change, innovation, or advancement within her field or community.

About Tricia Greaux
Ms. Tricia Greaux has a strong interest in sustainable development and the conservation and preservation of marine resources. She integrates performing and visual arts with creative and innovative approaches to expand Ocean Literacy and promote the Blue Economy across the Caribbean.
She is a certified Marine Protected Areas Manager, a Sustainable Ocean Initiative Trainer, and a graduate of the Maritime SheEO Program. Ms. Greaux recently served as Vice-President for Public Relations and Marketing of the Women in Maritime Association Caribbean and as an advisor to the Caribbean Feminist Climate Justice Movement.
Her contributions have earned her numerous awards and honors, including the St. Kitts and Nevis International Women’s Day Award for the Blue Economy and induction into the St. Kitts Pioneering Women’s Gallery as the first female Marine Biologist from the Federation. She is widely recognized as an eco-feminist leader in the Caribbean and is the first national to complete the United Nations UNCLOS Strategic Needs Fellowship in Ocean Governance.
