BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – The date has been set for the Seventeenth Annual New Year’s Gala hosted by The Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, the distinguished Leader of the Opposition and of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
According to the Chairperson of the Gala Committee, Hon. Marcella Liburd, the gala event will take place at the Grand Ballroom of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino on Sunday 1st January 2017.
Ms. Liburd has disclosed that the guest speaker is Mr. Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, the largest civil rights organisation in the United States.
“Mr. Morial is an entrepreneur, lawyer, professor, former legislator, former Mayor of New Orleans and a former President of the United States Conference of Mayors,” said Liburd.
Mr. Morial has been recognised as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Americans by Ebony Magazine as well as one of the Top 50 Nonprofit Executives by the Nonprofit Times.

Ms. Liburd said the theme for the 2017 New Year Gala hosted by Dr. Douglas, which starts at 6:30 pm on January 1st is “Renewed Strength.”
“It reflects the resilience of our people and our commitment to overcome the challenges that we face personally and collectively,” she said.

Promising an evening of “sumptuous dining, good company, love and laughter,” Ms. Liburd added that patrons will be treated “to the finest local and international artistes.”
