(EMU) – St. Kitts, May 5, 2018: Nazia Byron of the Beach Allen Primary School, has won the 9th instalment of the Courts St. Kitts-Nevis Reading Competition Finals on Friday 4th May, held at the St. Kitts Marriot Resort.

The competition culminated in two keenly contested rounds, namely the narrative and news piece segments.

Nazia outmatched her peers by amassing a total of 265 points capturing the title of the 2018 Courts OECS Reading Competition National Winner.
Nazia will represent St. Kitts and Nevis in the Courts sponsored OECS Reading Competition Regional leg in St. Lucia, on the 24th May, 2018. She also walked away with a cheque of $2,000.00; a gift voucher from Harper’s valued at $250.00, a participatory certificate, trophy and other incredible prizes. The Beach Allen Primary School was also awarded a cheque of $2,000.00.

Four (4) other participants who competed for the title are, N’Kosanae Hanley of the Ivor Walters Primary, Zyon Daniel from the Violet Petty Primary, Jenieve Thomas represented the Montessori Academy and Shazonna Marshall of the Bronte Welsh Primary.
Jenieve Thomas was awarded 260 m points for the first runner-up position and N’Kosanae Hanley, 255 points which gave him the second runner up position. Each participant was awarded a certificate, gift voucher from FLOW for (6) months free internet, trophy and other prizes.

The Reading Competition was held in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Courts in partnership with FLOW, Harpers Warner’s One Stop, ZIZ Broadcasting and the First Caribbean International Bank.
